The carbon insert has a greater glue adhesive therefore, there is less possibility of splitting out the end of the shaft from glue failure. Carbon inserts cannot corrode so points cannot fall or seize, also points stay tight and will not work loose. The weight of the carbon insert is almost half that of aluminum inserts.
